Introduction
The 12th World Conference on Titanium (Ti-2011) is the 12th in a series of meetings held every four years since 1968, with purpose of bringing together the worldwide titanium community to present and discuss progress in titanium technology. It will cover all aspects of titanium, including the complete production route from the ore to finished products, new alloy and process development, microstructure/property evaluation and applications in all areas. The participation of the seven major titanium countries (USA, CIS, Japan, UK, France, China, and Germany) in the International Organizing Committee (IOC) guarantees extensive coverage of all new interesting areas in research, development and application of titanium.
The number of participants Ti-2011 is expected to be more than 1000. Scientists, engineers, officials, entrepreneurs and. investors in the field of titanium research, development, application, industrialization and education etc are warmly welcome.
Conference Topics
This conference will follow the style of the former meetings. Seven plenary lectures will be given by the members of the IOC, and 15 keynotes for the symposiums will be arranged. This conference will have seven parallel sessions daily. The following 12 symposiums on different topics will be included:
1. Extractive metallurgy (1 keynote)
New reduction methods, sponge, melting, recycling etc.
2. Wrought processing (1 keynote)
Billet, plate, sheet, bar, forging, extrusion, etc.
3. Microstructure evolution (2 keynotes)
Phase transformation, thermal mechanical processing for microstructure and texture control, phase diagram calculation, phase field simulation.
4. Properties (1 keynote)
Microstructure-properties relationships, influence of internal stress, texture and other facets.
5. Intermetallics & MMCs (1 keynote)
TiAl,Ti3Al,Ti2AlNb etc. and MMCs.
6. Component manufacturing (1 keynote)
Sheet forming, welding and joining technology, machining, surface enhancement, inclusion inspection.
7. Near net shape processing (2 keynotes)
Casting, laser forming, deposition, powder metallurgy, HIP and process modeling.
8. Environmental behavior (1 keynote)
Corrosion, oxidation and surface modification.
9. Aerospace applications (1 keynote)
Airframes, spacecraft, aero-propulsion.
10. Biomedical and healthcare applications (1 keynote)
New alloy development, biomedical properties and surface modifications,
products.
11. Emerging applications and market (2 keynotes)

Social Activities
Ti-2011 will arrange visits to titanium manufacturers and research organizations located around Beijing and modern and ancient sightseeing during the conference. The Olympic Village with its modern construction will be available for the participants to visit free of charge, and also arranged are visits to the Great Wall or Tiananmen Square. For the participants who would like to visit Xi'an and Hangzhou, we will also arrange technical excursions to two important titanium industry bases, which are Bao Ti (located in Baoji) and Bao Steel (located in Shanghai).
Conference Location
The conference will be held in the China National Convention Center (CNCC). Ideally located in the heart of Beijing Olympic Green, CNCC stands right next to the Bird's Nest, Water Cube and National Indoor Stadium.
Accommodation
The InterContinental Beichen Hotel (five-star) nearby CNCC will provide accommodation for the majority of participants. It is 20 km away from the Beijing International Airport to the east, 9 km from Tian'an men Square to the south and 80 km away from the Great Wall to the north. For your reference, we also recommend another 20 hotels, which are 10 to 15 minutes walk from the CNCC and provide the participants with more freedom of choice.
