Welcome to XITC’05
The 98’ Xi’an International Titanium Conference (XITC’98) was held on September 15-18, 1998 in Xi’an, China. More than 300 representatives of the research and industry circles from 12 countries were gathered in Xi’an to exchange the new progress on titanium R&D and industrialization, which played an important role in promoting titanium R&D for the world, especially for China. Chinese titanium research and industry have been developed greatly since last conference XITC’98. The mill output of titanium in China exceeded 7000 tons in 2003. In order to let the people engaged in titanium industry know more Chinese and the world titanium industry, promote the exchange and cooperation of the world titanium circle, we decide to hold the 2005’ Xi’an International titanium Conference (XITC’05), which will be held on October 16-19, 2005 in Xi’an, China. The conference will provide a forum on the exchange and discussion of new ideas and achievements related to the aspects of titanium technology and industry in recent years. At the same time, the 12th China National Conference on Titanium will be held on October 19-23, 2005 in the same place after XITC’05.
To emphasize the poster sessions, one poster in each conference topic will be honored by an award.
Xi’an is the R&D and production base of titanium in China. Northwest Institute for Nonferrous Metal Research (NIN) is located in Xi’an, it is a very important R&D force of titanium in China. Western Titanium Technology Co.,Ltd in Xi’an and Baoji Titanium Co.Ltd near Xi’an form the titanium production base.
Xi’an is a historical city with many marvelous tourist attractions. Among them there are the excavated Terra-cotta Warriors and Horses which have been guarding the tomb of the First Qin emperor for over 2000 years. One day excursion will be arranged to visit these sites during the conference. In addition, optional post-conference tours are scheduled, which offer an opportunity for participants to visit technical locations and fantastic tourist sites in China, to get a better understanding of the national culture and the recent development in China.

English is the official spoken and written language of the conference.
The papers presented at the conference will be collected in proceedings which will be published after the conference.
Call for Papers
Authors are invited to submit abstracts. Each abstract should not exceed 300 words in length and should be submitted in digital format. All abstracts will be evaluated, and if accepted, the authors will be informed about the kind of presentation (oral or poster). The participants are required to make the registration for the conference and to pay the corresponding fee before July 20, 2005.

Please mail your abstract in a Word 6.0 or higher format to 2005xitc@c-nin.com as an attachment. Please register by filling out the registration form and sending it to the Conference Secretariat via regular mail or fax.
2 Floppy Disk Submission
Please mail your abstract in a Word 6.0 or higher format onto a regular floppy disk, carefully label the disk with your name as well as the paper title and send it to the Conference Secretariat. Please register by filling out the registration form and send it to the Conference Secretariat via regular mail or fax.
Exhibition
There will be an exhibition of titanium products, processing machines, scientific instruments, brochures, books and magazines etc. throughout the whole conference. For renting exhibition space, please contact the Conference Secretariat.
Additional Information
The 12th China National Conference on Titanium will be held on October 19~21, 2005 in Xi’an, China. The exhibition will continue to be held during the conference.

Cancellation policy
For the participants submitting the paper: no refund after July 20, 2005.
For participants submitting no paper: 70% refund after July 20, 2005. No refund after September 1, 2005. Participant substitution may be made at any time.
