Welcome to
EARTH 2007 in Sendai
Growing economics needs resources which are seemed to be limited if we consumed them at the present rate. Nevertheless, the present period can be called the most active in terms of material production and consumption in the history of human beings, although there is a great difference depending on the part of the world. 3R (Reuse,Reduce, Recycle) and waste treatments become significant more and more with rapid expanding of economics in the world, especially East Asia to achieve sustainable development. Currently, we are at the stage where reviews are being done on what kind of circulatory society should be created and what the stance of industry should be in order to achieve it. Harmonization of social system and technical developments is essential in the circulatory society.
3R and waste treatments are a growing area in metal production industries. There is no doubt they take a main part of the field. And also more collaboration between different research areas is necessary to progress it.This is indeed a paradigm shift. With this background, this conference covers wide-range topics on 3R and waste treatments, even Eco-materials and soil remediation. We believe this measures the magnitude of enthusiasm in this field throughout the world.
