Welcome to EARTH 2005 in Beijing
Resources recycling has been an increasingly essential issue for the environmental protection and sustainable social development especially in the East Asia, one of the most rapid economic growth areas in the world.
Following successful seven predecessors of the EARTH conference series, The 8th International Symposium on East Asian Resources Recycling Technology (EARTH 2005) will be held in Beijing, China November 9-15, 2005. It will provide a forum to timely exchange and share the experiences and achievements related to all aspects of resources recycling. After the meeting, optional tours to visit some interesting recycling enterprises with fantastic sightseeing will be organized, which will give you an impression of rapid growth of the economy and recycling industry in China.
Since the distribution of the First Circular, active response has been obtained. Up to now near 160 papers have been received, among which 118 papers are from outside of Mainland China. It is expected that the symposium will be informative and enjoyable for all the participants. You are warmly welcome to attend EARTH 2005 in Beijing.
Conference Venue
Beijing, the capital of China, is a modernization city with a plenty of historical attractions, which is convenient to access directly from abroad or from metropolis in China.
The symposium will be held in Days Hotel & Suites Beijing, located in south of Beijing adjacent to the Beijing Curio City. It is a five-stars hotel with modern facilities suitable for international conference.

Presentation and Proceedings
English is the official spoken and written language at the symposium.
Papers will be presented in the following forms:
Plenary Lecture: 30 min including 5 min discussion;
Oral presentation: 15 min including 3 min discussion;
Poster presentation: 1 hr with poster map of 2 m wide x 1m high.
Multimedia project is provided for oral presentation. If slide project or overhead project is needed, please inform the EARTH 2005 Secretariat in advance when you make registration.
All the papers will be collected into EARTH 2005 Proceedings, which is to be published before and distributed at the symposium. Authors are requested to follow the Instruction to Authors strictly. The maximum length for invited paper is 8 pages and for contribution paper 4 pages. The deadline for receiving the full manuscript is August 1, 2005. Accommodation
Two hotels, the Days Hotel & Suites Beijing1 and Longtan Hotel2 are provided at favorable rates for the accommodation of participants as requested. The former is a five-stars hotel, where the symposium is held. The latter is a three-stars hotel about 15 min walking distance to the symposium venue and a return shuttle bus is arranged once a day.
The package accommodation fees per person includes 3 night hotel rent, breakfast and transfer from airport to the hotel by shuttle bus on Nov. 9 are as follows:

Note: For reservation in a double room it is requested to indicate a roommate. Otherwise a single room has to be reserved in case no appropriate roommate can be assigned by the conference.

Accompanying Person Program
Accompany person, usually the spouse of the participant will join the Reception in the evening of Nov. 9, enjoy Banquet/Entertainment in the evening of Nov. 11 and have an one day excursion in Beijing on Nov.10, taking Hutong (胡同) tour, visiting Temple of Heaven(天坛)and shopping in Hongqiao(红桥)Pearl Market.
The accompanying person is requested to fill a separate Final Registration Form. The fee for joining the accompanying person program is US$ 180.

Registration fees that cover conference attendance, luncheon and dinner during the symposium, reception, banquet/entertainment and proceedings are as follows:
Regular participant: US$ 350 (before Aug. 1, 2005); US$ 400 (after Aug.1, 2005)
Student*: US$ 180 (before Aug.1, 2005); US$ 200 (after Aug.1,2005)

Registration can be made by return of the completed Final Registration Form along with the full payment to the Secretariat of EARTH 2005. Then a formal invitation letter for visa application will be forwarded by fax to the registrant.

Nov.12 One day trip to Badaling Great Wall (八達嶺長城) and Imperial Tombs of Ming Dynasty (明十三陵), enjoy acrobatics at evening.
Nov.13 Drive to Tianjin and visit Tianjin Datong Copper Co. Ltd–天津大通銅業有限公司 (Cu recycling), after wandering on Ancient Culture Street(古文化街)go back to Beijing.
Nov.14 Visit Tianmen Square(天安門廣場) and Palace Museum (故宮博物院) in the morning, sightsee Summer Palace (頤和園) in the afternoon.

Afternoon: Visit ancient cannon platform (古炮台), Rongguang Museum 荣光宝藏馆)and Rare Rock Museum (奇石馆) and have a good view to Golden Gate Island (金門) of Taiwan, then fly to Guangzhou.
Evening: Night sightsee Zhujiang River (珠江).
Nov.14 Morning: Drive to Nanhai (南海) and visit WINMEX JanHout Metal Ltd-滙美鴻發金屬有限公司 (waste disassembly and metal recycling).
Afternoon: Sightsee Zhaoqing (肇慶) and Seven Star Cave (七星岩), then go back to Guangzhou。

Cancellation Policy
Cancellation received before August 1, 2005 will be entitled to a full refund after subtracting US$50. Thereafter refund will be at the discretion of the Secretariat depending on the loss caused by the cancellation. If it is received after November 1, 2005, no fund will be honored but a copy of the conference proceedings.
